RentVeed — find a house without walking for it

Two people in the same city, on the same day, looking for each other, and they cannot meet. A student walks street to street asking for a room; two streets away a landlady sits on an empty studio. RentVeed is how they find each other.

What RentVeed is

A mobile and web platform where landlords, landladies, caretakers and agents post the properties they have available, and where tenants and students browse those properties by video, filter them by city and price, and contact the owner directly.

It is deliberately narrow. It is not a payments company, not a lease-management system and not a property developer. It closes one gap: the people who have houses and the people who need them cannot see each other.

Why it has to exist

Finding a place to rent in Cameroon still works the way it did thirty years ago. Every existing route has the same structural flaw: the information is trapped.

Trekking

Walk the neighbourhood, look for signs, ask anyone standing outside a gate. The oldest method, and still the most common.

You only ever see the houses visible from the road.

Your network

Friends, family, church, colleagues. Excellent when it works, and free.

A newcomer has no network, exactly when they need one most.

Agents and WhatsApp groups

The professional layer. Agents genuinely solve an information problem: they walk, record, photograph and distribute.

Unsearchable, unverified, and it scrolls away in hours.

Classifieds and social media

Large audiences, nothing to pay to post.

Stale and duplicated. Nobody removes a house once it is rented.

What the old way costs a tenant

3–10

Days spent searching on foot

10,000

FCFA per viewing, paid whether you take it or not

1 month

Rent as agent commission if you do take it

40,000

FCFA spent after four viewings, before a key changes hands

How it works

01

A landlady posts

She records a short walk-through on her phone, adds the price, the location and her contact, and publishes. Posting is effectively free.

02

A tenant browses

He swipes the feed or searches by city, price and category, likes a few, and shares one into a family WhatsApp group for a second opinion.

03

He unlocks the contact

Only when he has decided on a specific property does he pay once to unlock the direct number. That unlock is his permanently.

04

They deal directly

He calls, arranges his own viewing and negotiates his own terms. RentVeed takes no cut of the rent or the caution.

What RentVeed will never do

Published so people can hold us to it.

  • Never charge a fee to view a listing. Browsing stays free.
  • Never hide a property behind a fee you cannot preview.
  • Never sell personal data to advertisers or brokers.
  • Never publish a poster's private number without their choice.
  • Never take a cut of the rent or the caution.
  • Never let a paid boost masquerade as an organic result.

Where it is today

Version 1.0 is complete and working on Android and the web, in both languages, with payments, moderation and the full listing system in place. It is deliberately held behind a pre-launch waitlist: opening a rental platform to tenants before it has properties would waste the one first impression it gets. Supply comes first.
